Synopsis |
"One week after" the destruction of the third Black Beauty (as seen in The Green Hornet, 1991 series, #8), Police Commissioner Hamilton realizes that the Hornet's hat which he threw away at that time is forensically valuable evidence, and orders a huge percentage of the force to go back and look for it. When Diana informs Paul and Hay of this development, she is annoyed that they seem unconcerned. While Ham's men find a hat, the Hornet goes to Preston and Sons, Tailors for a replacement, as they have been the source of the masked man's headgear since an incident involving that firm and the first Hornet. As soon as the forensic lab has a report, Hamilton refuses to listen to the technician and forces him to go on stage and announce his findings to the assembled representatives of the media, which prove embarrassing to the commissioner as Kato had long since recovered and destroyed the Hornet's hat. |

Notes |
Takes place between issue #s 8 and 9 of this series. Commissioner "Ham" Hamilton's rarely used first name, given in this series' first issue as Carter, is here said to be Lincoln, and will be again in #26. The flashback to the first Hornet is undated, and contains a reference to the original radio program's recurring mystery villain, Mr. Big. The tailor shop is located near the corner of Williams Avenue and (apparently, as the "Williams" part of the sign partially obscures this) Mowry Lane, allusions to 1960s TV Green Hornet actor Van Williams and NOW Comics inker David Mowry, respectively. |
