20 page The Green Hornet story "Part One: Sister-Hood"

Characters Sister-hood (V); P. Easton Binney; Brick Arcade, a.k.a. Mister Death, a mob hitman (Intro); Kato II [Hayashi Kato]; Green Hornet IV [Paul Reid]; D.A. Diana Reid; Police Commissioner Hamilton; Harry Block (V)
Synopsis A mob hitman, Brick Arcade, arranges to be interviewed by Sentinel reporter P. Easton Binney because he has a contract to kill the journalist, but the Hornet and his man intervene, resulting in "Mr. Death"'s arrest. Meanwhile, Diana returns home from the latest in a string of very unsatisfactory social encounters to find a costumed woman, who seems to refer to herself as Sister-hood, going through the D.A.'s jewelry box. An attempt to stop the thief gets Diana the worst of it, but she manages to call Paul before she passes out. Since the secrets of Reid Tower make a police investigation there out of the question, it's up to the Green Hornet. Sister-hood makes a similar, violent call on an unsavory night-club owner named Block, who vows to get her. Hearing about this, the Hornet checks out the most likely fence and finds her negotiating with him over her loot, but so do Block's men! To be continued....

Notes Question #12a reads, "In what year did the first [Saturday matinee cliffhanger] movie serial [produced by Universal Studios] run?" Their answer, "1939 (see copyright [notice on opening credits])." [Parenthesis theirs]. However, in this context, "runs" irrefutably means "in theaters," which didn't begin until January 1940, according to the Internet Movie Database (imdb.com).
