Synopsis | In a storm off Cape Cod, the Challengers chase a science buoy. It picked up strange sounds. The cable snaps. Ace and Rocky dive in frogman suits. They find a big Nazi sub drifting on the bottom. Inside, they find the Nazi crew - in suspended animation for 20 years! The Nazis awaken and capture the Challengers - and push on with their mission. Launching a PT boat, they plant a super-bomb ashore. The Challengers fight back and reach shore. Prof, who speaks German, heard they were on a secret mission to blow up the Eastern seaboard after the war. And here they come charging the Challengers in a reverse D-Day! With captured weapons, the Challengers shoot back while Prof tries to disarm the bomb. Out of ammo, Rocky rushes and is captured - as he wanted. Aboard, he slugs his guards, steals the PT boat, and rams the sub! The bomb is disarmed. The Challengers fought the last battle of World War II - twenty years after it ended! |

Characters | Ace Morgan; Rocky Davis; Prof Haley; Red Ryan; (Challengers of the Unknown); Multi-Man; Multi-Woman I |
Synopsis | Multi-Man has broken jail, and the Challengers worry where he'll turn up. Soon they learn. Multi-Man launched a rocket with a death ray into space. He threatens to destroy property unless he gets his demands: his own recognized country where crime can run rampant! Meanwhile, the would-be tyrant is lonely. He builds a "queen", a giant female robot, then drinks Liquid Light to become a giant himself. When the Challengers finally track him down, Prof tries to dash the Liquid-Light antidote in his face, but is slapped down. There's more: Multi-Man introduces Multi-Woman! She can mechanically morph into a fish, grow wings and fly, flame on and hurl fireballs. The Challengers dodge her as they finally splash Multi-Man with antidote. He shrinks to a big-dome dwarf. Multi-Woman is disgusted at this "small and ugly" wretch. When she tries to kill Multi-Man, the villain appeals to the Challengers for help! Ace has an idea to catch this too-real woman. Returning from the city, Ace drops a giant diamond necklace. What woman can resist diamonds? But when Multi-Woman wears it, Prof throws a switch. Ultrasonic vibrations rattle Multi-Woman to flinders. And Multi-Man got away! |

Notes | Writer id by Bob Hughes. The stories from this point become more traditional superhero-supervillain fights, as opposed to earlier adventures into the unknown. Much later, Kilowog builds a Multi-Woman III (CHALLENGERS OF THE UNKNOWN MUST DIE). |
