Synopsis |
Tarantula and Wonder Woman use her magic sphere to view a Justice Society case where the JSAers disrupt a plot of Ian Karkull's to murder the next eight future presidents and FDR on June 28,1941, though neither the JSAers nor Tarantula and Wonder Woman know what the seven men the JSAers saved will become (future Presidents), since one of the eight died due to Green Lantern's inability to save him from a falling tree caused by Wotan's ray (wood, Green Lantern's weakness). Wonder Woman wasn't in on the case, not yet having arrived in man's world when it happened. |

Notes |
The vitality of the JSAers and their associates into their old age is explained in this story as a side effect of being bathed in the time rays of Ian Karkull's shadow energy.
The story is arranged like a Golden Age JSA tale in that the team appears together at the beginning and end, but split up as individual characters or two-member teams in intermediate chapters.
It appears that Jerry Ordway and Rick Hoberg both worked on p. 4.
It is unclear precisely which pages Bill Collins inked, or if Mike Machlan, Frank Giacoia, or Joe Giella inked any pages other than the pages for which they are specifically credited.
Dann Thomas is credited as "researcher" on item, but as "co-plotter" in All-Star Companion, Volume Two.
The story was thoroughly researched for historical accuracy to see where the next seven Presidents after FDR were at the time FDR was president when Karkull attacked him.
We would also see why Doctor Mid-Nite and Starman would become the next JSA members, as Green Lantern and Hourman would step down as JSA'ers (Green Lantern due to the death and Hourman his Miraclo addiction), since Batman and Superman were already honorary members at the time this story was happening as seen post events from All-Star Comics (DC, 1940 series) #7.
We would also see why Kent Nelson would later doff the Fate helmet for his 1/2 helmet during All-Star Comics #8-on and later issues of All-Star Squadron following the events of this issue, as well as in All-Star Squadron (DC, 1981 series) #23. Robin was also not yet an All-Star Squadron member, since this event happened before Dec. 7, 1941, the day after which the All-Star Squadron was created by FDR (origin issue in Justice League of America (DC, 1960 series) #193 and All-Star Squadron (DC, 1981 series) #s 1-3) on Dec. 8, 1941. |
