Synopsis | Mr. Weatherbee tells us how Archie came to have a strange attachment to an old, mean wolf at the zoo. In flashback, Archie goes up to Mr. Lodge's North Woods retreat to do a report on wolves, and goes flying over the forest with Mr. Lodge. When the plane crash-lands and Archie is knocked out, Mr. Lodge goes to get help, but while he's alone in the stranded plane, Archie is almost trampled by a stampede of caribou. And after he manages to out of the plane, he faces an even worse problem: Kanyook, a starving outcast wolf who used to be the leader of his pack, and who sees Archie as his opportunity to get a meal at last. |
