Synopsis | In Paris in 1659, Arion the immortal (known at that time as Vicomte Jean-Simon Giscard D'Arion) is sleeping in his bed with his two girls after some partying, when he has a dream/vision about Camelot falling. He takes out a crystal ball, and has it show the events in ages to come that lead to it. Clark Kent is on a plane traveling to Kazakhstan to meet with Dr. Callie Llewellyn, an old friend. He flashes back to another old friend, Lana Lang, who he interviewed in the past couple of days as she took over LexCorp. She tells him that she also completed her divorce with Pete Ross. Near Ayaguz, Kazakhstan, at an old Soviet Science Center, the area is devastated, with many people dead or injured, including Callie Llewellyn, who calls out to Clark. He hears her, and sneaks his way off the plane, flying the rest of the way himself. Superman helps retrieve the injured, but is punched by something moving very fast, and blood is drawn. Callie rushes to him, and he asks her to go over what happened here while he fights the creature. She tells him this center was abandoned when the Soviet Union collapsed, but left behind was a science experiment of some kind, a creature named Subjekt-17. Before she finishes, Superman is attacked again. Arion observes this, makes remarks about people "tampering", and journeys to his future to "fix it". |
