Synopsis | Archie and Betty are on a date in the country when he gets a flat tire on his jalopy. While Betty waits in the car, the jack slips and the car rolls into the lake. Archie wades in to rescue Betty, then slips with her on his shoulders, drenching them both. Deciding they need help, they go to a local motel, and sign in as Mr. and Mrs. A. Andrews to get dry and call a tow truck. Once in the room, Archie starts a fire and the two get out of their wet clothes and dress in blankets, putting their clothes near the fire to dry. Betty calls her father and mother to let them know she'll be late, but when they discover that she and Archie are in a motel room together, they become angry and race to aid their daughter. When they arrive at the motel, Archie explains what happened, but the Coopers don't believe him. To protect his daughter's honor, Mr. Cooper demands that Archie and Betty get married. |
