12 page Human Torch story "The Case of the Frightened Felon"

Characters I: Walt Neilson; V: Rankin (I, D)
Synopsis An uncle steals money from a vault and frames his nephew for the crime. The uncle then murders the prosecutor involved in the case because the man's conscience began to bother him. Coincidentally, the nephew had escaped jail and went to the prosecutor's home the day the body is discovered by Torch and Toro. The nephew denies killing the man and says he only went to the house to ask for a new trial and left when he found the body. The Torch believes him because he had taken a slug in the shoulder escaping jail and there should have been plenty of blood in the room if he had committed the murder and there was only the victim's blood. The uncle blackjacks Torch and Toro and locks them in a freezer but they escape. Torch and Toro pursue the uncle's car and he loses control of it and dies in the crash.
