When Bix refuses to meet Ginny's mother, she ends up in tears and Sandy arrives to punch Bix in the nose. Without his gang, Bix is a coward and he hastily leaves Sandy to take Ginny in his arms.

After telling his father he wanted to marry Donna, Jeb insisted that she prove herself to not simply be out for the family fortune. One day she overheard Jeb plotting to use land earmarked for a new hospital for his own development and reported this on the radio. Thinking that had ended her chance with Bill, she found he was more in love with her than ever.
