Synopsis | Keif Llama is sent by Confed to Caladrea, a moon of Iidossorn, to solve a problem with the mining operation. The mining is carried out by large digging creatures call fosstrics. Hesheme, a fosstric, explains that they are having problems with worms. She calls on a worm expert, Simon Rieche, to help solve the problem. They attempt to remove a huge worm that makes up much of the moon's volume, then realize their mistake. The problem of microscopic worms in the rock is caused by the mining company's artificial atmosphere. The moon is evacuated, but the fosstrics carry on mining under a treaty with Confed. |
