| Notes | Somewhat based on the cover to Superman (DC, 1939 series) #300 (June 1976). Dick Giordano in an email to the indexer has confirmed that he inked this cover, and suspects that he pencilled it based on a layout from Carmine Infantino. However, it also seems to have a Curt Swan look, particularly Jor-El and Lara. |

| Synopsis | Jor-El has detected that Krypton will explode, presenting his findings to the Kryptonian council. They do not believe him. To escape Krypton before the explosion, Jor-El builds a small rocket as a test model. But time runs out, and he is forced to launch it containing just his son, Kal-El. The rocket comes to Earth, and is found by the Kents, who raise Kal-El as their son, Clark. Due to Earth's lighter gravity and yellow son, Clark gains powers, and becomes a super-crimefighter named Superboy. After his parents die, he moves to Metropolis, and becomes a reporter for the Daily Planet, now fighting crime as Superman. |
