Man of Steel (1986) 6 CGC 9.8 1986

Top CGC census grade for this issue.

Small piece of fuzz trapped inside back of slab.

Published just a few months after Crisis on Infinite Earths, John Byrne's The Man of Steel updated the saga of Superman for modern audiences, changing certain aspects of the character in the process. Here we see that Clark Kent's parents are alive and well in Smallville (originally they had died shortly after Clark's graduation from high school), and Clark's childhood sweetheart Lana Lang is back in town. Clark learns that he is the sole survivor of Krypton (thus erasing Supergirl and others from continuity), but swears his allegiance to Earth. Written and drawn by John Byrne, with inks by Dick Giordano.

Man with the Screaming Brain (2005) 4B CGC 9.8 2005

Mike Mignola Cover - BRUCE CAMPBELL (W), DAVID GOODMAN (W), RICK REMENDER (P/COVER), HILARY BARTA (I/Cover), and MIKE MIGNOLA (Altern. Cover) On sale August 17, FC, 32pg, $2.99. Hellboy creator Mike Mignola illustrates an eye-popping second cover to complement theone by the regular team for this final installment of Bruce Campbell's brilliantly deranged tale of an arrogant American businessman and the surly cabdriver whose brain has been transplanted inside his head. It's all out mayhem as the dual-brained Campbell goes toe-to-toe with a bar full of Russian ruffians at the beck and call of a Gypsy beauty who's trying her darnedest to plant him in an early grave. Meanwhile, Campbell's dead wife acts out with uncharacteristic bravery for someone reanimated inside a robot body. When it all comes crashing down, one thing's for certain?you'll never look at comics or organ transplants the same way again!
