    FIRST EDITION WITH DUST JACKET, Hard Cover/Red Cloth, Random House, pub. (1942) of Adventures of Superman, the first appearance of Superman in book format. Written by George Lowther with iIllustrations by Joe Shuster. Published by Random House, 1942. Contains four full color plates, ten black and white full page illustrations, and numerous black and white spot illustrations for chapter headers. Along with the story "The Mystery of the Phantom Ship and Its Skeleton Crew!," Superman's origin is retold: The destruction of Krypton, the space ship landing on earth with infant Kal-El, the death of his earthly father (named Eben Kent in this edition), becoming a reporter at the Daily Planet, meeting Perry White and Lois Lane- all this and the mystery of the Phantom Ship and its Skeleton Crew!
