Wicked Willie and Sinful Sid use ventriloquism to make Gabby Hayes think his horse can talk, but when the Wells Fargo is robbed, things quickly get out of hand. Gabby Hayes loses his hearing after being thrown into a trough by a bucking bronco, and an outlaw mistakes him for the town doctor. This story was the final published comics work of Marc Swayze. Gabby tells a young boy how the cowboy hat came to be.
