Between 1934 and 1949, they published almost 400 of these novels. This particular issue is "Beloved Enemy" by Lewis Allen Browne. Adapted from the film starring Merle Oberon and Brian Aherne. Includes interior illustrations. 11" x 15.5". 16 pages. Black and white, and partial color.

Picture Play Magazine, originally titled Picture-Play Weekly was an American weekly published magazine centered around the movie industry during the golden-age of Hollywood. It was one of the earliest published tabloid style magazines that focused on celebrity gossip, but also included behind-the-scenes content, and movie reviews. It was first published on April 10, 1915, and ultimately transitioned from a weekly to a monthly publication before the end of it's production run in late 1941 after merging with Charm Magazine. This issue features full page portrait of Jean Harlow wishing her fans a Merry Christmas. Article on Carole Lombard. Movie previews with stills include Camille starring Greta Garbo, Conflict with John Wayne, Lloyds of London with Tyrone Power, Maid of Salem starring Claudette Colbert. Article entitled "How Does Hollywood Have Fun Really?" has photographs of Hollywood Blvd. plus many stars. Loretta Young's life story. Movie ads include Love on the Run with Joan Crawford and Clark Gable, Top of the Town, The Plainsman with Gary Cooper, Gold Diggers of 1937 with Joan Blondell. 8 1/2-in. x 11 1/2-in., 98 pages, B&W.
