    The comics incarnation of a beloved radio hero, aviator "Red" Albright uses his inventions, including an early wingsuit, to fight evil as Captain Midnight. Captain Midnight undertakes an attempt to fly around the world non-stop in 80 hours, a daunting task in the midst of World War II. Midnight seeks the truth behind the mystery plane that appears and disappears, and carries no cargo. Genetically engineered "human beetles" are used as a biological weapon by an Axis scientist.
