    Here's one of Buddy's favorite Kirby/Ayers pre-superhero monster covers! While still in junior high school, Buddy found a copy at a C.B. Berry Elementary Halloween carnival. In those days kids (but not Buddy) contributed comics to be sold at five cents each. Needless to say, Buddy loaded up!

"The Monster in My Cellar!", art by Reed Crandall; Wanting to give his editor a monster story to end all monster stories, a science fiction writer's imagination somehow makes the monster in his story real; He fights in the cellar and upstairs until he can imagine it out of existence. "I Met the Thing on Midnight Island!", art by Don Heck; A sailor finds a note from a castaway, but on the island named he finds only a strange creature; When an alien ship arrives to pick up the creature, he realizes that it was a castaway. 36 pages, full color.
