There's several well-known and beloved X-Men tropes that have emerged over the decades- pickup baseball games, "(Insert Name) is a Jerk!", Danger Room training sessions, and of course hanging out at Jean Grey's grave! A fantastic spread, Silvestri paints a maudlin and sweeping scene with Cyclops standing alone in a sea of gravestones, his face locked in grim determination mode. It's all contrasted with the one line of dialogue delivered off-page by Emma: "This will only be the third or so time you've had to bury her." A fantastic example of the charm and irreverence that made Grant Morrison's New X-Men run absolutely essential reading. The credited inkers for this issue are Matt 'BATT' Banning, Joe Weems, Billy Tan, and Eric Basaldua. Pencil and ink on two sheets of Image Comics art board attached with tape on the reverse. Full piece measures 22" x 17".
