Original Art from Action Comics #666 (1991) Page 10 Pencils by Ed Hannigan, Inks by Willie Blyberg from Action Comics (1938 DC) 666 1991 DC One of the enduring tropes of Superman comics, this vision of a world where Superman broke bad sees the hero struggling with the violent impulses that led him to slaughter of all his enemies- and then start on the heroes trying to stop him. Signed by Hannigan in bottom margin, though signature is faded. Pencil and ink on DC Comics art board. 11" x 16 1/2", B&W. |

Original Art from Archie Double Digest #203 (2009) Story Page 26 Pencils and Inks by Norm Breyfogle In auction ending January 12 from Archie's Double Digest (1982) 203 2009 Archie Publications What a page! The triumphant ending to the last "New Look" Archie story, an initiative that saw the long running teen series move away from its iconic art style to tell more grounded, 'mature' stories. The final arc was its most melodramatic with the Andrews family being forced to leave town when Mr. Andrews gets a promotion. Of course, even in the more 'real' Riverdale, happy endings are a must and on this great page we see the town celebrate the family's decision to remain in Riverdale. Even Mr. Lodge is happy Archie is staying! Signed by Breyfogle in bottom margin. Pencil and ink on comic art board. 11" x 17", B&W. |

Original Art from What If? #37 (1982 Marvel), Page 2 Pencils by Arvell Jones and Inks by Sam de la Rosa from What If (1977 1st Series) 32 1982 Marvel Original Art from What If? #37 (1982 Marvel), Page 2 Pencils by Arvell Jones and Inks by Sam de la Rosa (of Venom fame!) The ever-lovin' blue-eyed Thing is the focus of this What If? tale, as thanks to MODOK he's infected with a virus that continues to mutate. This jam packed page is full of details that don't pop as well in the finished issue, especially the use of screen tone on the cell in panel two, and the beginnings of Ben's mutations in panel five making this piece something really special to behold. Pencil, ink, and screen tone on Marvel Comics art board. 11" x 16", B&W. Note: Panel three has been cut out and pasted back in to conform to the editor's note of placing the caption box at the bottom- an excellent decision as it would have bled into MODOK's sdialogue! |

Original Unpublished Cover Art for Dick Tracy Monthly #118 (c. 1957) Art Likely by Joe Simon In auction ending January 12 1950s Harvey Although we don't know for sure why this fantastic cover went unused, we can hazard a guess- during this period the series consisted mostly of reformatted reprints from older issues or of the daily newspaper strips which were created before the institution of the Comics Code. According to Grand Comics Database heavy edits were often required to conform to the code, which possibly led the publisher to decide that the story this cover was produced for was too much work to edit. As this art was unpublished the artist cannot be verified, though at this time in series' run Joe Simon was the book's cover artist ghosting as 'Chester Gould'. Pencil and ink with Title logo and corner box stats on art board. 13 3/4" x 19". |
