Markus Clay, the third hero to take up the mantle of Amazing Man, gets a great spotlight in this story which sees him tested by the elemental gods who give him his matter absorption powers. After the elementals remove his powers and toss him into the middle of a monster attack, Markus finds himself trapped in a crumbling structure with a group of civilians- and displays the kind of heroism that doesn't require superpowers which convinces the gods to restore his powers just in the nick of time.
