From this issue titled "Into Thin Air!", the venerable fountain of factoids opens with a look at one of North America's earliest and most notorious disappearances, the Roanoke Colony. On this page we get a nice montage of the theories surrounding the fate of Roanoke with a slaughter by the native population and lost at sea giving way to the most likely explanation- the fact that a century later, Westerners made contact with "a group of Indians with gray eyes and fair hair." who spoke of "ghost ships and grandparents who read from books". Pencil and ink with screentone on Dark Horse comic art board. 11 1/4" x 17".
