Issue #1 - 1941. Interesting publication with quite a listing of writers. Samuel Goldwyn writes about Male Leads, which has short bios and 1-in. square portraits of such stars as Clark Gable, William Powell and James Stewart to name a few of the dozens listed. "Million Dollar Mushroom" by Charles Saxon, a short history of the beginnings of the movie industry. William (Hopalong Cassidy) Boyd writes of movie cowboys, again with the short bios and 1-in. square portraits. "He's Not a Censor" is an article about Will Hays. "Versatile" by Anna Neagle writes about stars' beginnings and life before stardom. Orson Welles, Claude Rains, Greta Garbo and many more are profiled. "Villains" by J. Carrol Naish features those actors and actresses known for playing the bad guy. "I Don't Tell Them How to Act" by Frank Capra details how he directs a movie and its players. "Comedians" by Bob Hope profiles dozens of then-popular comedians. George Hurrell pens "Formula for Glamor" which relates some of his experiences in Hollywood. "We Whistle While We Work" by Walt Disney describes how an animated movie is made. Printed using sepia ink. Jampacked with interesting reading and literally hundreds of photographs, the cover is not exaggerating. 8 1/2-in. x 11 1/4-in., 66 pages, black and white. Cover price $0.15.
