PIGEONS FROM HELL #1 (of 4) Joe R. Lansdale (W), Nathan Fox (A), and Dave Stewart (C) On sale Apr 16 FC, 32 pages $2.99 Miniseries Joe R. Lansdale puts a new spin on an old classic with this four-part adaptation of master-storyteller Robert E. Howard's classic tale of terror Pigeons from Hell. Set in the deep south, Pigeons tells the story of a damned house with a wicked past whose vile form casts a shadow of death on all who dare to enter. At dusk, as the sun slumps below the horizon, scores of pigeons can be seen flocking from the house in waning sunlight. The pigeons, they say, are the souls of the damned escaping from the very bowels of Hell itself. Joe R. Lansdale (author of such works as Bubba Ho-Tep, The Nightrunners, and The Drive-In) is no stranger to comics, having worked on Batman, The Lone Ranger, Jonah Hex, and Robert E. Howard's Conan. He is joined by comics newcomer Nathan Fox. Together Lansdale and Fox are a powerhouse of visual storytelling, perfectly suited for the dark and dismal world of Robert E. Howard's horror classic Pigeons from Hell. Legendary horror aficionado Joe R. Lansdale puts a new spin on an old classic! Cover price $2.99.

Joe R. Lansdale (W), Nathan Fox (A/Cover), and Dave Stewart (C) On sale June 18 FC, 32 pages $2.99 Miniseries After last issue's bloody surprises and frightening, new terrors, Claire and Janet follow a mysterious lawman away from the gore-filled plantation house to seek advice from a strange, obsessive-compulsive hermit. While they can't leave their friends (or what's left of them) behind for long, this may be their only chance at escape. Or maybe they'll just find a quick death, if they're lucky. Haunted by dangerous shape-shifting shadows, reanimated bodies of the dead, and the dark heart of the mansion itself, the panic-stricken twins would rather take a chance finding answers in the demented shack of a madman than spend another minute in the hell that still holds their friends captive! ? Written by celebrated horror author Joe R. Lansdale (writer of Bubbu Ho-Tep, Batman, Jonah Hex, Conan) ? Based on the classic horror story by Conan creator Robert E. Howard! Cover price $2.99.

1st printing. Collects Pigeons From Hell (2008) #1-4. Based on the story by Robert E. Howard. Adapted by Joe R. Lansdale. Art by Nathan Fox. Cover by Dave Stewart. Master horror storyteller Joe R. Lansdale throws his scathing wit and wild, otherworldly creations into the mix as he brings Robert E. Howard's classic tale of dark revenge to the present...and into the unwilling lives of the Blassenville mansion heirs, twin sisters Claire and Janet. When Griswell fled the Blassenville estate those many years ago, he couldn't have imagined the grotesque horrors that would eclipse the ones he saw then-but they're here, thanks to fiction legend Joe R. Lansdale, dazzling new comic-book artist Nathan Fox (DMZ), and multiple Eisner Award-winning color artist Dave Stewart (Conan, The Umbrella Academy). This fresh take on the classic Pigeons from Hell story delves deeper into the dark mansion's past while also digging up some fresh, imaginative demons, as Claire and Janet unknowingly bring their friends into an unearthly death trap! 1st printing. Written by Angus Konstam. Piracy has been around since man took to the sea. In this book, pirate expert Angus Konstam sails through the brutal history of piracy, from the pirates who plagued the Ancient Egyptians to the Vikings raids and on to the era of privateers. He then discusses the so-called Golden Age of Piracy and colourful characters such as Blackbeard and Captain Kidd, before examining the West's initial encounters with Eastern pirates off the Chinese coast and the phenomenon of the modern pirate. By separating the realities of piracy from the Hollywood-inspired fiction, and by tracing the development of piracy through the centuries, this book gives a realistic vision of what piracy actually involves. Hardcover, 336 pages, Text (with color and B&W photos) Cover price $24.95.

Volume 1 - 1st printing. "Troublems with Frenemies!"
Story and art by Ray Friesen.
So what is this book about? It's about a Pirate Penguin named Pirate Penguin and a Ninja Chicken who isn't.
They are the bestest of friends and also the worstest of enemies all at the same time. There are about a bajillion jokes inside this book, and it's filled with action, adventure and arguments. Sometimes the stories are really teeny, about stuff like ice cream or origami, and sometimes the story gets really epic-tastic, filled with spaceships and giant monsters and evil koalas and stuff.
