Stories and art by Tom McNamara and Victor Pazmino. During the 1940s, military hero Don Winslow was the star of a comic strip, a movie serial and a popular radio show in addition to this Fawcett comic. Don and Red crash-land on an island of cannibals, and actually wind up in a giant cauldron in one scene. As the cover advises, these issues feature "official war stories from Don Winslow's Log Book," as he, like other wartime heroes, had to explain the continued reliance on WWII stories after the war was over. While on leave, Don is persuaded to get into the ring with a boxer called the Masked Marvel. Don realizes that the Hook has helped the Renegade escape prison when a guard is found "hooked to death." By Ted Nomura. AP Core Title! Kamikaze is usually identified with the Japanese suicide planes of World War II. Less known are the volunteers of the underwater version of the suicide machines, but the best known of these are the Kaitens. Converted from the best torpedoes of the war, the Japanese Type 97's, they emerged as manned torpedoes capable of sinking a battleship with one good hit. Introduced too late to have any real effect compared to their airborne cousins, thousands of them were made in preparation for the expected Allied invasion of Japan, an invasion that never came in real history. In this alternate history, the Kaitens are released in full fury and result in the heavy casualties that we prevented. FC, 24pgs. Cover price $2.95.

The greatest comic magazine of the Golden Age returns with the Marvel Masterworks! Headlining the heavy-hitters of the Timely era, Marvel Mystery Comics has it all-from top-of-the-field super hero action to bizarre mystery, otherworldly noir, jungle adventure and boy detectives! And it all starts off with the history-making Human Torch/Sub-Mariner team-up by the titanic talents Carl Burgos and Bill Everett! Then the Human Torch's sidekick Toro, the Flaming Kid, makes his Marvel Mystery debut. Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner, takes his uniquely anarchic brand of action straight to the Nazis' noses, while the Angel's origin is revealed and he begins a multi-part crusade against the sexy villainess, the Cat's Paw. Rounded out by Jack Kirby's eerie agent of vengeance, the Vision; the wonderfully weird Electro; Terry Vance, School Boy Sleuth; and the adventures of Ka-Zar, it's the classic package that made Marvel famous!

By SYD SHORES, VINCE ALASCIA, ALEX SCHOMBURG, MIKE SEKOWSKY, BASIL WOLVERTON, and CHIC STONE. Cover by ALEX SCHOMBURG.
Hot on the heels of the explosion of star-spangled super heroes, U.S.A. COMICS presented a wild and wooly selection of patriotic characters fighting for the Red, White and Blue.
From the Victory Boys and the American Avenger to wilder heroes like Roko the Amazing, the Blue Blaze and the Fighting Hobo, U.S.A. was a comics magazine bursting at the seams with crazy concepts. But with the Second World War raging, it became clear there was only one hero who could headline a book titled U.S.A.: Captain America! Backed up by the Destroyer, Marvel Boy and the Whizzer - as well as the adventures of regular joes like Sergeant Dix and Jeep Jones, and true tales of WWII - U.S.A. COMICS was the perfect dose of four-color excitement for the American G.I.!
Sporting some of the most famous covers of comics' Golden Age, the early Captain America issues of U.S.A. are some of the rarest Marvel comics of all time, and they're collected here for the first time ever!
Hardcover, 280 pages, full color.
