"Armageddon!", script by Roy Thomas, pencils by Dick Ayers, inks by John Tartaglione; Baron Strucker has been tasked by the Fuehrer with the destruction of the town of Cherbeaux and all its occupants; Hitler hopes to stamp out the French Underground ensconced there; Fury fights Strucker to a stalemate, and barters for the safety of the town's occupants; Strucker complies, but, ultimately, reneges on his word, destroying the town; The Howlers make it out safely, as does Fury and Strucker, each unaware of the other's fate; Hitler later learns that Cherbeaux is destroyed, but that Strucker failed to destroy the Underground, earning the Baron a death sentence from the Fuehrer. 36 pgs., full color. $0.12. "Incident in Italy!", script by Roy Thomas, pencils by Dick Ayers, inks by John Tartaglione; Fury and the Howlers parachute into Italy and are immediately surrounded by Italian forces; They are taken to a POW camp where they meet a group of Canadian Air Force, led by Capt. Andre, a hard-nosed officer who is not amused by the Howlers and their off-beat attitudes; Fury and the Howlers are soon escorted to meet the prison camp's commanding officer, Major Carlo; Carlo excuses his guards and speaks with Fury; The Howlers discover that Fury was privy to a mission the whole time which included a rendezvous with this Maj. Carlo, who is secretly a member of a Partisan group, whose goal is to stop Mussolini at all turns; Fury & the Howlers are then informed that Mussolini has a large gold shipment that is being transported to a large farm in Northern Italy and that they will need to intercept the shipment and haul it back to Allied territory. 36 pgs., full color. $0.12. "Happy Sam" Sawyer reflects back on his first encounter with Fury and the eventual creation of the Howler team, which began with Nick Fury and his friend, Red Hargrove, as parachuting instructors hired by the British military; Sam is instructed to find two men to assist him in a mission to Holland, which had just been invaded by the Nazis and he selects Fury and Hargrove for their piloting and parachuting skills; While in Holland, trying to find a spy with important documents the British need desperately, the trio run into a group of traveling circus performers, one of whom happens to be the resident strong man, "Dum-Dum" Dugan; They are able to recover the spy and documents and avoid the Nazi's attempts at stopping them. 36 pgs., full color. $0.12. On the Howlers' arrival, they are instantly beset by nomads, but take a prisoner, who turns out to be the daughter of the Desert Hawk Ben Ali Mussim; She tells them that the Nazis hold the Hawk captive to make his men do their bidding; Fury must convince the nomads to back him, and it will take a horse-backed duel with Nazi Major Frick to prove his mettle to the nomads. 36 pgs., full color. $0.12.
