Cover by Bill Sienkiewicz. X/Essad Ribic/Kent Williams. THE SCOOP: The dark side of the mutant war gets their own ongoing series! A MESSAGE FROM THE FRONTLINES: "Perhaps you think you know us. That costumed charlatans such as Magneto and his ilk are representative of our people. You are wrong. We are your neighbors. Your co-workers. The homeless you callously step over on your way to your safe, meaningless jobs. We will not announce ourselves with bright red uniforms or gloating public pronouncements. We will simply strike. When you see your streets run scarlet with blood, and your cities aflame, you will know your time is at an end. "You have taken our homes from us. Our families. Our future. You despoil the world we were meant to inherit, plundering the resources that rightfully belong to our children. No more... from this day forward, The Brotherhood declares open war on humanity. Its end will not come until the power to govern rests in our hands. Or until you are, once and for all, extinct." THE CREATORS: Who is X? We don't know what his or her real name is, but we do know that he or she is writing one heck of an intense comic book! Joining this secret scribe is Essad Ribic, whose fine pencil work has been seen recently in CABLE and X-MEN 2000. And dig that wild cover by Bill Sienkiewicz! THE FORMAT: The first issue of this new monthly series is 32 pages, with ads. NOTE: X, the writer for this series, is actually Howard Mackie. Cover price $2.25.

Cover by Bill Sienkiewicz. X/Essad Ribic/Kent Williams. A message from X: "Today we came one step closer to overthrowing your empire of lies. Today we recruited another youth to our cause. Perhaps this doesn't matter to you. After all, it was only one. One who you ignored and neglected and condemned to a life of self-denial. We could not allow such cruelty, and some day - perhaps soon - you will curse yourselves for casting him aside. Today we gained a brother - and you gained an enemy who will not rest until you are a fading memory." NOTE: X, the writer for this series, is actually Howard Mackie. Cover price $2.25.

Cover by Bill Sienkiewicz. X/Essad Ribic/Kent Williams. A new message from X: "Genetic testing in schools to ferret out those young men and women who may be mutants? This will prove to be your greatest mistake. Already, you have pushed one more to us. His powers have manifested - and he will return your prejudice in kind. You have been warned. To the demagogue Ludlum: continue to spew your racist rhetoric at your own risk. For every word you utter, we will take action. For every anti-mutant phrase that you speak, another human will pay the ultimate price." NOTE: X, the writer for this series, is actually Howard Mackie. Cover price $2.25.

Cover by Barry Windsor-Smith. X/Leonardo Manco/Jimmy Palmiotti. THE SCOOP: A new story arc! A new artist! THE STORY: An excerpt from the ransom note delivered to millionaire Malcolm Reeves: "We have your daughter, and though she was born to be one of us, we'll return her to you only after our demands have been met. For the hate-spewing bigot you are, we know you donate millions to butcher-doctors that perform untold atrocities on young mothers and their "unwanted" babies. Now the Brotherhood would like to see your generosity. If you don't contribute to our worthy cause, you can be assured of two things. One, the world will know that your only offspring is what you've conspired to kill: a mutant! And two, you will see your daughter again, when she returns - as your assassin!" THE BUZZ: "Why it's cool: because the 'bad guys' get their say! Plus, it's written by the mysterious X, whose identity even Marvel ain't lettin' on about. What more of a hook could you want?" -Wizard THE CREATORS: Enigmatic writer X is joined for the next four issues by penciler Leonardo Manco (DOOM) and cover artist Barry Windsor-Smith! NOTE: X, the writer for this series, is actually Howard Mackie. Cover price $2.25.

Painted Cover by Glenn Fabry. X/Leonardo Manco/Jimmy Palmiotti. Found by Scotland Yard scratched into the cargo area of a hovercraft bound from Dover to Calais: "Help me. My name is Malon Reeves. I've been kidnapped by a group of terrorist mutants calling themselves the Brotherhood. Don't know how many of them there are, but I know that they've killed a few of my father's guards. Don't know how much time has passed, but it seems like forever since I've eaten. If this note is found, alert the authorities. My father is a very wealthy man and he'll see to your reward should I be found. Please, hurry. I don't think they intend for me to live." Painted cover by Glenn Fabry. X/Leonardo Manco/Jimmy Palmiotti. Transcript of an Interpol emergency line tape: "My name is Tanya. I am a mutant and a soldier of the Brotherhood. This is a message for Malcolm Reeves, the man who I once thought of as my father. Daddy, you lied to me. Lied about everything. About who I am, about who you are... about my mother! The world is full of too many lies ... too many liars! Today a cell of the Brotherhood lashed out at the liars. Many were killed - men, women, and even children of the lie. Unfortunate, but this is what the lies beget. The revolution has begun. We will meet again, daddy. And then the lies will end. Long live the Brotherhood. Long live the revolution!"
