Written while Wertham was a psychiatrist at a hospital in New York City, this book recounts the murder by a teenage son of his mother. A policeman working the Lower East Side notices Gino, wearing no shoes, only socks, buying candy for his younger siblings so they will stop crying. The policeman goes back to the tenement apartment and finds they dying woman and the crying children. Wertham examines the bewildering case in detail and recounts Gino's story from in-depth interviews. 5 1/2-in. x 8 1/4-in., 270 pages, B&W text. Cover price $2.75.
