Golden Age Greats - Volume 3 - 1st printing. "Fox Features: The First Wave!" One of the first publishers from comics' Golden Age to extensively use superheroes was Fox Features, and this overview reprints a selection of their best, including Green Mask, The Flame, Samson, The Lynx, The Eagle, The Black Rider, Stardust, Nightbird, and The Dart. Though none of the Fox heroes achieved breakthrough status into the mainstream of pop culture, their competitors saw the formula for their own future success in the Fox publications. Victor Fox's colorful superhero anthologies Science, Weird, Mystery Men, Wonderworld, and the rest were highly influential on other publishers and the comic book market in general. Fox was an early outlet for future creative giants including Bob Kane, Will Eisner, Joe Simon, Jack Kirby and countless others. This volume focuses on their superhero output of 1939 through 1942.
