"The Star Brand!" Story by Jim Shooter. Art by John Romita, Jr. And Al Williamson. It's a world not unlike our own. Words like paranormal or super-hero are euphemisms only used in comic books and movies. That is until the White Event! In one blinding moment the landscape of the universe changed. Welcome to the New Universe. Life for Kenneth Connell, an extreme sports enthusiast, changed the night he met...The Old Man. After a brief encounter and black-out, Ken awakens with a strange "Brand" on his hand. It's a Brand that will forever change his life. 32 pages, FC. NOTE: This series can best be summed up by the presage that serves as both prologue and epilogue for the series - "There is a weapon in the universe more powerful than all others. No more coveted, feared, loved, or hated thing exists. Only a fool or madman - or the right man - would dare possess the Star Brand!" - Odinson, Lonestar Comics Archivist Cover price $0.75.

"Enemies!" Story by George Caragonne. Art by Mark Bagley and Pablo Marcus. The mysterious White Event left many humans all across the world forever changed and gave a few of them amazing abilities. In this issue, Ken meets another paranormal. He's a red-blooded, all-American. He's super-strong, nigh invulnerable, and he's going to march straight into Russia and bring the Commies to their knees. If Ken does not stop this misguided powerhouse his action may start World War III and cause the deaths of untold millions. Question is does even the Star Brand have the power to stop this paranormal? "Finale!" Story by John Byrne. Art by John Byrne and Jeff Albrecht. It's the swan song for all those touched by the power of the Star Brand. All questions are answered. The origin of the Star Brand. The cause of the White Event. The identity of the Old Man. Complete closure is brought to this highly underrated series. NOTE: In 1986, the concept of the New Universe was really innovative and fresh, with Star Brand being the cream of the crop. Though it lacked direction at some times it was very inspired and it's a shame it was not allowed to reach its full potential. Maybe with Neil Gaimen's New Universal (2006) series the New Universe can finally unfurl and blossom into the beautiful flower it was always meant to be. Only time will tell. - Odinson, Lone Star Comics Archivist Cover price $1.50.
