INCOMPLETE. First page missing, interrupts art and story. Cover detached. Oxidation.
Starts Jul 27 Stories and art by Dick Wood, Frank Giacoia, Tony DiPreta, and Art Helfant. One of the more fanciful and influential of 1940s aviator heroes, Airboy fights evil with his radio-controlled plane "Birdie" and its plethora of experimental flying tech. Sometimes listed as Airboy Comics #34. No issue # on cover; Vol. 3, issue #11 in indicia. Airboy meets action girl Bonnie Easter, and immediately helps her out of a tight spot. When teen Rickie wins a model airplane contest, the Heap ill-advisedly follows him to New York City, which reacts predictably to the monster in their midst. The Airboy story and cover feature possible art by Flash Gordon's Dan Barry, while the Heap storyline may be the work of mystery novelist Patricia Highsmith, who worked in comics at this time. Airboy: The Easter Egg; Skinny McGinty; The Heap; Alfie and Ralphie; Flying Fool; The Captain's Curse; Baron Buckskin; Iron Ace. 48 pages, Full Color. Cover price $0.10.
