Cover by Myron Fass. Stories and art by Robert Leslie Bellem, Tony Tallarico, Ray McClelland, Pierre Charpentier, John C. Mitchell, Bill Fraccio, William Grew and H. C. Kiefer. Despite the title, not true "crime" comics, but mystery comics featuring detective heroes. The ol' "injury-to-the-eye motif" returns, as Dan Turner seeks a killer who fires poison darts into his female victims' eyes! This story also features a deadly Punch & Judy show, hilarious Dan Turner tough-guy dialogue, and a villainous puppet-master who resembles Marvel's Puppet Master. Gail Ford goes undercover at a costume party to catch a wealthy man's killer, in a story with plentiful action-girl art. Sally the Sleuth and "The Chief" are mystified when an executed killer seemingly returns from the dead...for revenge. Gail Ford, Girl Friday; Ray Hale: Murder at First Base; Sally the Sleuth: Back From the Dead; Steve Wilder: Stuck With Murder; Dan Turner Hollywood Detective: The Poisoned Puppet. Final issue under this title; series continues as Crime Mysteries (1952-1954 Trojan Magazines) #7, while the numbering continues with Secret Mysteries (1954) #16. 32 pages, Full Color. DAISY HANDBOOK # 2, published 1948 by the Daisy Manufacturing Company. Daisy Air Rifle ads were very frequently and prominently featured in comic books for many decades starting in the 1940's. This book is very unusual, because it has comic book features from several different publishers: DC, Fawcett, Dell and True Comics (Parents Magazine Institute). It also has a 10 cent cover price, rather than being a promotional giveaway. The book was primarily sold through the mail. The book is pocket digest size and 132 pages, including covers. The comics are in black and white. Features include Captain Marvel (Shazam), Robotman (who was a backup feature in Action Comics with Superman), Red Ryder by Fred Harman, the Boy Commandos, Ibis the Invincible, and the humorous "Culture Corner" by Basil Wolverton. There are also real fact features on Leonardo Da Vinci, Rudolph Diesel, and Cleveland Indians Hall of Fame baseball player Bob Feller. The center is an 8 page full-color Daisy catalog, featuring Red Ryder and showcasing such products as the 1000 shot repeater cowboy carbine, the number 118 pistol target set, the daisy pump gun (king of all air rifles), daisy bullseye shot, the Buck Rogers U 238 Atomic Pistol Holster Set, the Number 71 Daisy Repeating Water Pistol, and more. The back cover has an ad for a poster - "The American Boys' Bill of Rights", featuring a kid holding a rifle. Cover price $0.10.
