Volume 130 - 1st printing. "Kawanakajima 1553-64!" Written by Stephen Turnbull. Art by Wayne Reynolds. Kawanakajima is unique in history. In the space of 12 years, between 1553 and 1564, this valley deep in the mountains of central Japan witnessed no fewer than five battles between two of Japan's greatest warlords. Takeda Shingen and Uesugi Kenshin were both descended from great families and were highly skilled tacticians. Both had taken the tonsure and risen to high rank in their respective Buddhist sects. When Shingen attempted to seize control of Shinano province they were set on a collision course. Stephen Turnbull chronicles the see-saw struggle between two men who epitomize the warrior daimyo from Japan's 'Warring States' period. Softcover, 96 pages, PC/PB&W Cover price $19.95.

Volume 41 - 1st printing. " US Army AH-1 Cobra Units in Vietnam!" Written by Jonathan Bernstein. Art by Jim Laurier. Bell's AH-1 Cobra was the first dedicated helicopter gunship to reach frontline service anywhere in the world. Developed as a private venture by the manufacturer, and based on the mechanics of the ubiquitous UH-1 Huey, the Cobra proved a huge success once introduced into combat with the US Army in 1966. Built as a key weapon in the Advanced Aerial Fire Support System concept of 1965, the AH-1 was one of the few aircraft to reach the combat zone after actual combat experience went into its design. The AH-1 helped reduce the losses being suffered by vulnerable troop transport helicopters by providing effective fire suppression during airmobile operations. This book explores its history, technology and crew. Softcover, 98 pages, PC/PB&W. Cover price $22.95.

Volume 94 - 1st printing. "American Civil War Commanders Part 4!" Written by Philip Katcher. Art by Richard Hook. n the Western theater of war the Confederacy had the misfortune to face, with inferior resources, some of the outstanding Union leaders early in their careers. The Southern commanders who faced Grant, Sherman and Sheridan in these campaigns were of varied backgrounds and talents: some had been sent West in disfavour, others were foolishly quarrelsome, and after A.S.Johnston's death at Shiloh there was no single figure with the authority to dominate them. Some were nevertheless of the highest class: men like Joseph E.Johnston, the cavalry leader Nathan Bedford Forrest, and the little known Patrick Cleburne and Alexander Stewart earned ungrudging respect. This book details the careers, personalities and appearance of 24 generals of the Army of Tennessee and the other Confederate commands in the West. Softcover, 64 pages, PC/PB&W. Cover price $18.95.

Volume 95 - 1st printing. "World War II Medal of Honor Recipients Part 2!" Written by Robert Hargis Starr Sinton. Art by Ramiro Bujeiro. The Medal of Honor is the highest award for valor in action against an enemy force that can be awarded to personnel in the United States' Armed Forces. From the early fighting in the Philippines through the D-Day landings in Northwest Europe to the final assaults in the Pacific, this book looks at the brave US soldiers and airmen who were awarded the Medal of Honor for their actions in the face of danger. It tells the exciting combat stories of such famous figures as the film star Audie Murphy, one of the most decorated US soldier of WWII, alongside less well-known awardees. Softcover, 64 pages, PC/PB&W. Cover price $18.95.

Volume 59 - 1st printing. "The Plains Wars 1757-1900!" By Charles M Robinson III. The Great Plains cover the central two-thirds of the United States, and during the nineteenth century were home to some of the largest and most powerful Indian tribes on the continent. The conflict between those tribes and the newcomers from the Old World lasted about one hundred and fifty years, and required the resources of five nations - Spain, Mexico, the Republic of Texas, the Confederate States of America and the United States - before fighting ended in the mid 1890s. This masterly exposition explains the background, causes and long term effects of these bitter wars, whose legacy can still be felt today. Softcover, 96 pages, PC/PB&W Cover price $17.95.

Volume 391 - 1st printing. "The British Army in World War I (1)!" Written by Mike Chappell. Art by Mike Chappell. At the outbreak of World War I in August 1914 the British Army was unique: it was a small force raised entirely by voluntary recruitment. The first campaigns of the British Expeditionary Force brought admiration from the enemy, but by the end of 1914 it had been virtually eliminated. Kitchener's call for new volunteers drew such a patriotic response that by mid-1916 the BEF had grown to 55 divisions. This book explains and llustrates the uniform, equipment and organization of the British Army up to the end of the battle of the Somme. Softcover, PC/PB&W.

Volume 1 - 1st printing. "Modelling the Harrier I and II!" By Glen Ashley, and a Robert Oehler. In over 30 years of service, the Harrier has seen significant combat action for the British Royal Navy and the USMC: from the Falklands to Bosnia and Kosovo, from the First Gulf War to Afghanistan, the Harrier has played a key role. It has also seen service for Italy, Spain, and India. Distinctive and widely recognised, the Harrier was the world's first VSTOL aircraft and its appeal for the modeller is clear. This title covers modelling the Harrier across a variety of scales, from the early version P.1127 through to later models. Advice on weathering, superdetailing, conversions and display bases combines with a wealth of recommended reference sources to create this packed and informative guide to modelling the Harrier. Softcover, 7-in. x 10-in., 80 pages, full color. Cover price $19.95.

Volume 2 - 1st printing. "Modelling the Messerschmitt Bf 110!" By Brett Green, and Robert Oehler. The Messerschmitt Bf 110 was undoubtedly one of the most significant aircraft of World War II. Despite suffering setbacks in the summer of 1940 at the hands of the RAF, it continued to be used effectively in other theatres and roles until the last days of the war, particularly as a night fighter against RAF Bomber Command's strategic bombing campaign over the Reich. This title shows you how to correct and convert basic 1/48-scale kits of the Bf 110 into many different variants, using a wide selection of aftermarket detail sets, conversions, accessories and decals for both day and night fighter schemes. Softcover, 7-in. x 10-in., 64 pages, full color. Cover price $19.95.
