Revolution by Fire GN (2024 Beacon Press) New York's Afro-Irish Uprising of 1741 1-1ST

    (see more images)

1st printing. Based on the little known real life "Slave Insurrection" of 1741, this book imagines outlaw fugitive John Gwin and an eclectic crew of renegades as they attempt to disrupt and overthrow the colonial social order. Featuring an eclectic crew of African-American, Irish, and mixed race Hispanic sailors, soldiers, and renegades, Gwin and his band are determined to capture New York City in their own names and fight the higher class "wigs and ruffles" wearing white people. Unfortunately for the conspirators, suspicions about an uprising were already in the minds of the Governor and his fellow elites, and the events that followed change the course of everyone's lives forever. This book provides a fly-on-the-wall view of a historical event reimagined, highlighting cooperation among races and classes that transcends the social order of its time-and inspire us today. Softcover, 6-in. x 9-in., 176 pages, full color. Cover price $18.95.

Rock and Roll Biographies (2015 Acme) 25

Written by Michael Aushenker. Art by Rolo Ledesma. Cover by Rolo Ledesma. Enjoy this cool flip book featuring two iconic California bands formed by the legendary Mike Muir! Suicidal Tendencies was formed in 1980 as a punk band in Venice, California. Originally only intended as a 'party band,' Suicidal Tendencies grew in notoriety. Suicidal Tendencies had a rough start, including being voted 'Worst Band/Biggest Assholes' in 1982 but the following year were voted 'Best New Band.' In 2000 Mike Muir eventually became interested in the funk music that Robert Trujillo had brought to the table. As a result, the two formed a funk metal side project in the vein of early Red Hot Chili Peppers called Infectious Grooves. Recruiting drummer Stephen Perkins and guitarist Adam Slagel, this helped expand Suicidal Tendencies' fan base into a wider audience that included members of the alternative rock community. 32 pages, full B&W. Cover price $3.99.
