Vintage monthly published magazine with a focus on the film industry as a whole. First published in November of 1930, publication continued through the late 1970s. Priding itself as a source for exclusive behind the scenes stories about filmmaking, Silver Screen also contained a fair amount of articles about celebrities, their relationships, the latest in fashion, and film reviews. The Skipper # 521 - Aug. 24th 1940. Published in Britain by D.C. Thompson & Co. Ltd. These war time magazines feature action, adventure, Sci-Fi, and pulp stories. This issue features the tale of the boxing match that was fought a thousand feet in the air starring Captain Zoom, Birdman of the R.A.F. and other stories. Text with B&W illustrations, 28 pages, newsprint, 8.5-in. x 12-in. Not a comic book.

Special Edition Comics #1, published in 1940 by Fawcett Publications, was the only issue of the title. It appeared on the newsstands several months before Captain Marvel Adventures #1, and at the same time Whiz #8 was released. Note the costume of Captain Marvel shown on the cover. In this early version, he has a buckle on his sash with the initial M, does not have a buttoned shirt flap, and his arm bands are a bit different. Cover art by C. C. Beck.
