After the first two issues as a funny-animal comic, then MAD-style parody, Canadian publisher Superior converts Super Funnies to Western action. The Phantom Ranger must safeguard a railroad gold shipment from the outlaw Bates Gang and attacking Comanches alike. Ranchers hunt the wild black stallion Satana, but the rancher's young son bonds with the horse.
