Cover by L. B. Cole. Stories and art by Bob Plate, Harvey K. Fuller, Milt Hammer, and Art Helfant. Sometimes listed as Criminals on the Run Vol. 04 #1; technically, continued from Young King Cole Vol. 3 (1947-48) #12. The former Young King Cole series is not changed substantially, except for a title more suggestive of the crime comics that were popular at the time. A note from the Editors acknowledges the new title, and asks readers if they'd like true-crime stories. Young King Cole encounters a man who turns to crime because everything else in life is boring. Doctor Drew, who can talk to animals, must prove a tame baby crocodile has not grown into a killer. Detective Young King Cole follows the trail of a missing rare bird and finds himself facing down a rogue lion at the zoo. Another great big-cat cover by L. B. Cole. Young King Cole; Dr. Drew the Zoo Man: Case of the Bullet-proof Crocodile!; Homer K. Beagle; Secret Ambition; Jolly Jokes and Corn; Crack Shot; Heathcliff the Hobo. 48 pages, Full Color. Cover price $0.10.
