    1st printing.

    By Lauren R. O'Connor.

Debuting just a few months after Batman himself, Robin has been an integral part of the Dark Knight's history and, from the outset, has both reflected and reinforced particular images of American adolescence. Closely reading several characters who have "played" Robin over the past eighty years, Robin and the Making of American Adolescence reveals the Boy (and sometimes Girl!) Wonder as a complex figure through whom mainstream culture has addressed anxieties about adolescents in relation to sexuality, gender, and race.

Softcover, 6-in. x 9-in., 198 pages, Text (with full color photos).

    Cover price $29.95.

Roy Thomas Presents: Frankenstein TPB (2021 PS Artbooks) By Dick Briefer 1-1ST

This item is not in stock at MyComicShop. If you use the "Add to want list" tab to add this issue to your want list, we will email you when it becomes available.

    Volume 1 - 1st printing. "December 1940-December 1943!" Collects stories from Prize Comics (1940-1948) #7-37.

Story and art by Dick Briefer. Foreword by Donald F. Glut.

Dick Briefer's Frankenstein for Prize Comics is widely regarded as being America's first ongoing horror series. Indeed, it was Briefer's work that probably caused the creature to be actually named as Frankenstein instead of the nameless monstrosity from Shelley's novel.

Splitting the stories between the twin stools of humor and horror Briefer's tales are absorbing and unsettling in equal parts. Some of the humorous material has already been reprinted, though not necessarily in order nor in total.

    Until now, of course!

    Softcover, 256 pages, full color.

    Cover price $36.99.

  • Issue #1-1ST
Run HC (2021 Abrams ComicArt) 1-1ST

    (see more images)

    1st printing.

Written by Andrew Aydin and John Lewis. Art by Nate Powell and L Fury. Cover by Nate Powell.

To John Lewis, the civil rights movement came to an end with the signing of the Voting Rights Act in 1965. But that was after more than five years as one of the preeminent figures of the movement, leading sit-in protests and fighting segregation on interstate busways as an original Freedom Rider.

It was after becoming chairman of SNCC (the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee) and being the youngest speaker at the March on Washington. It was after helping organize the Mississippi Freedom Summer and the ensuing delegate challenge at the 1964 Democratic National Convention. And after co-leading the march from Selma to Montgomery on what became known as "Bloody Sunday."

All too often, the depiction of history ends with a great victory. But John Lewis knew that victories are just the beginning. In Run Book One, John Lewis and longtime collaborator Andrew Aydin reteam with Nate Powell-the award-winning illustrator of the March trilogy-and are joined by L. Fury-making an astonishing graphic novel debut-to tell this often overlooked chapter of civil rights history.

    Hardcover, 160 pages, B&W.

    Cover price $24.99.

But first, the kids have a lot to learn about not only rock 'n' roll, but themselves. Tamika overcomes her shyness and discovers her voice. Summer channels her over-achieving personality into her role as the band's manager. Lawrence learns that you don't have to "be cool" to make incredible music. But when the parents discover what Dewey has been teaching their kids, will the School of Rock ever have the chance to compete at Battle of the Bands? The spirit of the original film shines through, with all the iconic moments and laugh-out-loud lines recaptured.
