Charlton's long-running series focused on the miliary exploits of the US Marines throughout the 20th century. The WWII Battle of Guadalcanal is recounted from the Marine perspective, in a three-part story by artist and combat veteran Sam Glanzman. After the invasion of Guadalcanal is achieved, Sgt. Kennedy and his men move to Henderson Field and the Battle of Bloody Ridge. Then they must take out an ammo dump before the Battle is over. In another story, a Marine sergeant freezes up in combat.
