Earth!", script by Frank Robbins, pencils by Mike Sekowsky, inks by George Roussos; Ray Palmer and Major Mynah are one site of a high-altitude free fall test that the military is performing to see if Ray's new invention, a signal device, works; The test is a success; However on the way back, the military plane that was carrying the jumpers reports strange UFO's flying by followed by the free fallers disappearing in mid-air; Ray changes into the Atom and fly on Major Mynah to find out what happened; Spotting the UFO's, Ray goes in for a closer look and is attacked by strange red tendrils that come out of the UFOs. "When Gods Make Madness," script by Denny O'Neil, pencils by Dick Dillin, inks by Sid Greene; Carter Hall and Ray Palmer are leaving a scientists' convention in Midway City, when they are attacked by a man with a tear gas grenade, which knocks out Carter; The Atom attacks him, but is startled to find this enemy is Carter's double; This man disappears in the symbol of Shiva, Hindu god of destruction; Hawkman and the Atom jet to India, but their flight is attacked en route by locusts, and the pilot, another Carter Hall double, must crashland in India; Hawkgirl joins them there, and they are attacked by Brahma, god of light; The trio is overwhelmed by the faceless Nether-Man, and they are brought before Shiva, Brahma, and Vishnu, god of restoration. Letter to the editor from inker Klaus Janson and two (!) from comics writer Martin Pasko.
