Tigra Character Designs by Jack Kirby 1980s Though this design did not appear in the finished issue, this piece was likely drawn for Kirby's 1985 New Gods opus The Hunger Dogs, which saw Orion rescuing Tigra from Apokalips as Darkseid's empire crumbled around him. In the story Apokalips experiences a citizen's revolt with Darkseid makes a desperate run to find and kill Himon, the inventor of the Mother Box. When he makes it through the chaos and finds Himon, he is helping Orion load an injured Tigra into their getaway ship. Signed and dated '83 in the lower left of the piece. Pencil on DC Comics art board. 11 1/2" x 17". |

Preliminary Cover Art for Savage Hawkman #11 (2012) Pencils by Rob Liefeld In auction ending October 14 from Savage Hawkman (2011) 11 2012 DC If there's one word that can be used to describe Liefeld's art, it's power and that power is clearly evident in his fantastic pencil prelim for this cover. This issue sees the winged hero forced into gladiatorial combat and rather than taking the obvious route of showing Hawkman in the arena, he chooses a close shot emphasizing the Savage nature of the character with the added touch of his opponent's reflection in his helmet. Signed by the artist. Pencil over printed roughs on paper. 8 1/2" x 11". |
