Volume 2 - 1st printing. "Playboy Trump: The Complete Collection!"
Harvey Kurtzman created the publishing sensation MAD and in 1956 could have played his strong hand into a lucrative equity deal with EC publisher Bill Gaines. Instead, he bolted from MAD to join another 1950's publishing sensation, Hugh Hefner and Playboy.
Hefner provided the format and big budget that Kurtzman had dreamed of. The resulting new color satire magazine Trump was lavish, ambitious and star studded, featuring Mel Brooks, Will Elder, Jack Davis, Wally Wood, Arnold Roth, Al Jaffee and Russ Heath, among others. Trump held enormous promise. But, for complex reasons, Hefner pulled the plug before the third issue was finished. For the first time in six decades, the legendary magazine is finally collected, featuring much never-before-seen art, including the surviving contents of the long-lost Trump #3. For comics archaeologists, this is a print version of King Tut's tomb.
With essays and annotations by Kurtzman expert Denis Kitchen that put the 1956-57 publication in context, this long-overdue collection will be a revelation to fans of Kurtzman and his crew of madmen, satire, and popular American culture.
Hardcover, 6 1/2-in. x 11-in., 168 pages, full color.
Cover price $29.99. -

1st printing. Story and art by Gilbert Shelton, Paul Mavrides, and Dave Sheridan. The third release in our Freak Brothers Follies series traces the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers back to their hippie origins! The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers - Freewheelin' Franklin, Phineas, and Fat Freddy - score some sinsemilla from a country cousin, start a softball league to score free drinks, adopt a possessed parakeet that outwits the D.E.A., and inadvertently take in a couple of undercover cops as housemates! The title story collects an epic that ran for over six months in newspapers, in which the Brothers, evicted from their apartment, move to the country to get back to nature - only to discover that nature doesn't want them! Meanwhile, Fat Freddy's Cat adapts much more readily to outdoor living. Then, in a bonus tale, the cat leads the way in the accidental animal rights adventure, "Animal Camp." Grass Roots and Other Follies is the third release in this special series of seven volumes compiling the complete Freak Brothers comic adventures. The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers comics have sold more than 45 million copies worldwide in 16 languages, and these painstakingly restored hardcovers are the first North American bookshelf editions in more than thirty years. The Freak Brothers, the popular animated series currently streaming on Tubi - and renewed for season 2, set to release in December 2022 - stars Woody Harrelson, Pete Davidson, John Goodman, and Tiffany Haddish. Hardcover, 8 1/2-in. x 11-in., 160 pages, full color. Cover price $22.99.

1st printing. By Johnny Craig. Surrounded by the ornate, retro, proto-splatter horror graphics of Jack Davis and Graham Ingels and the slick, futuristic sci-fi stylings of Wally Wood and Al Williamson, EC Comics superstar Johnny Craig stood out with his elegant, crisp, contemporary graphic style. And nowhere did this style work more beautifully than in the dozens of superb crime comics he wrote and drew for EC, mostly in Crime SuspenStories (for which he handled the cover and lead-story duties for most of its run). Featuring escaped convicts, murderous husbands and wives, blackmailing maids, scheming nurses, executioners, time bombs, private dicks, and the occasional hatchet killer, the 22 stories in this book-all written and drawn by Craig-comprise a perfect encapsulation of the very best kind of noir writing, stunningly executed (in more than one sense of the word!) by one of the great cartoonists of his (or any) era. And all in eight pages per story! Fall Guy For Murder and Other Stories is the first collection to showcase the chronological run of Craig's Crime SuspenStories tales in one criminally convenient package, supplemented with several fascinating essays and informative historical notes on the stories. Hardcover, 160 pages, B&W. Cover price $28.99.
