Cover art by John Romita. How Green Was My Goblin!, script by Stan Lee, pencils by John Romita (who begins as regular penciler), inks by Mike Esposito [as Mickey Demeo] and John Romita (touch-ups); Peter heads to the doctor with the sniffles and learns that Aunt May's health is very fragile; Spidey is roped into tangling with a bunch of goons who zap him with a mysterious gas; Not realizing that the gas has weakened his spider sense, he changes into Peter Parker under the watchful gaze of the Green Goblin; The Goblin confronts Spidey outside of his home and captures him as Peter is worried that Aunt May might be overcome by the commotion; Trussed up in the Goblin's lair, Peter is shocked when the Goblin takes off his mask and reveals himself to be Norman Osborn. Reprinted in Marvel Tales # 178. According to Les Daniels in "Marvel: Five Fabulous Decades of the World's Greatest Comics" (Abrams, 1991), artist Steve Ditko resigned because of a disagreement over the Goblin's identity. Ditko wanted it to be someone anonymous--a new, unknown guy; Lee wanted it to be a familiar character that would startle readers. 36 pgs. $0.12. Cover price $0.12.

"Unmasked at Last!" Script by Stan Lee. Art by John Romita (layouts) and Jim Mooney (finishes). Cover by John Romita. Peter Parker has been feeling very sick in recent days...and he thinks he's losing his spider-powers. So Aunt May's nephew makes a very rash decision -- to reveal his secret identity at Gwen's birthday party! Captain Stacy, Mary Jane, Harry Osborn, and Gwen are stunned by Peter's confession! But Harry recalls that his best friend did something like this once before (way back in Amazing Spider-Man #12). The following day Peter realizes that he's committed a huge blunder. And he enlists the aid of Hobie Brown (aka the Prowler) to convince his friends -- that he's not really Spider-Man. Will Peter's risky gamble pay off? (Notes: The letters page includes letters from comics writer Doug Moench and comics artist Alan Kupperberg, respectively. This issue was reprinted in Marvel Tales #68.) 32 pages. Cover price $0.15.

The mechanical arms of Dr. Octopus are on display in the New York Museum of Natural Science! And since Doc Ock is in prison a thousand miles away, he is unable to mentally control his arms. Eventually, the arms make it all the way to the Midwest...and free their master! Dr. Octopus is back in business! The six-armed super-villain swiftly resumes his criminal ways by hijacking an airplane and holding it for ransom! And thus setting up a battle on the tarmac vs. your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man! Cameo appearances by Gwen Stacy, Professor Miles Warren, J. Jonah Jameson, John Jameson, Betty Brant, Joe Robertson, and Captain Stacy. (Notes: The web-slinger previously clashed with Doc Ock in Amazing Spider-Man #56. This issue was reprinted in Marvel Tales #69.) 32 pages. Cover price $0.15.
