Lin Ying brings news of Ivan Chung, "half Tong and half Russian saboteur," causing Sarge to flash back on how he lost his hand. An attack by Chung's forces during Vietnam War results in Steel getting a new steel hand. But in the present, Steel and Lin Ying are captured by Chung, who plans to dump them at sea as soon as he learns where Lin hid her father's pearls.
