Fort Ticonderoga an Illustrated History of the Fort (1950) is a promotional comic distributed at the Fort Ticonderoga site in upstate New York. Written and illustrated by Golden Age Superman artist Frederick Ray (he was the artist for the classic patriotic shield cover for Superman #14). The art is excellent, displaying Ray's skilled use of the black and white medium, and is historically accurate. The artwork appears to have been a patriotic labor of love on Ray's part. Fort Ticonderoga is the most faithfully restored revolutionary fortress in America and houses one of the nation's finest historical museums. 20 pages, color cover with black and white interior, heavy white paper stock, 6-in. x 9-in., 25c cover price.
