Depicted on front of post card is Andy Gump (star of early newspaper comics and comic books) dressed as an explorer with map in hand, with his foot on the globe. The title of the picture is "Andy Gump" on Top of the World, Sidney Smith Estate, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. The basic idea for Andy Gump and his family was a comic strip about ordinary people, not too bright, not too rich, not too good-looking, and their ordinary adventures. Cartoonist Sidney Smith was charged with writing and illustrating the strip.
