Laugh and Draw with Jefferson Machamer (1946 hardcover with dust jacket), written and drawn by Jefferson Machamer, is an excellent how-to-cartoon book featuring an abundance of attractive women who have a striking resemblance to Lucille Ball. Not every cartoonist can draw women. Clearly, Machamer is not one of them! Born in 1900, Thomas Jefferson Machamer's drawings of beautiful girls made him a staple in the industry. His comic strip Patty the Playful/Petting Patty, was syndicated by King Features in 1928. Probably best known for his famous Gags and Girls strips and Nifties comics, Laugh and Draw with Jefferson Machamer gives the writer/artist a chance to convey his drawing techniques and sense of humor to the reader. He gives pointers on everything from tools of the trade, the use of match stick models, and drawing kids to anatomy and more.
