Comic books April 1951

Vintage monthly published magazine with a focus on the film industry as a whole. First published in November of 1930, publication continued through the late 1970s. Priding itself as a source for exclusive behind the scenes stories about filmmaking, Silver Screen also contained a fair amount of articles about celebrities, their relationships, the latest in fashion, and film reviews. United's anthology featured reprints of early comic strips, including Casey Ruggles, Captain and the Kids and Nancy. The mysterious masked figure Black Barney takes the mayor of Pueblo Los Angeles hostage, and makes him shut down drinking, gambling, and other "sinful" enterprises in town. Casey Ruggles tries to find the mayor and restore the natural disorder. The Kids create havoc aboard ship as the Captain and his crew seek the Fountain of Youth.
