Published 1991 (est.) by Anthony Petkovich.
Cover by Maxon Crumb. Magazine features fiction from Maxon Crumb, Vincenzo Napoli, Loyd Mooney, and M.A. Ratcliffe, as well as an article about Embalming by Michael Lucas, and an Interview with Don Gordon by Eddie Kane. 36 Page, B&W, 8.25" x 10.75", Mature Readers Only. further notes from the publisher, A. Petkovich: In 1991 I put out this black-and-white magazine (only one issue) in the vein of mature pulp fiction/literature, with an emphasis on horror, crime, and sci-fi-oriented short stories. Included are four pieces of fiction by Maxon Crumb (his bizarre, urban updating of Edgar Allan Poes The Tell-Tale Heart), Vincenzo Napoli (a comic, at times violent telling of a lovesick office worker going to extremes to win the apple of his eye), Lloyd Mooney (involving a standup comic with a dark, twisted secret); and M.A. Ratcliffe (the further ribald, gory adventures of anti-hero Duke Slade). Also included are several equally fun non-fiction pieces by Eddie Kane (an exclusive interview with character actor Don Gordon, of BULLITT, PAPILLON, and THE LAST MOVIE fame), Captain Sid (a no-holds-barred review of Dennis Hoppers edgy, largely overlooked 1980 punk film OUT OF THE BLUE), and an article by Phantom Surfers bassist Michael Lucas and yours truly (a feature piece on the history of embalming, including interviews with several real-life practitioners of the ancient trade). AND… if that all werent enough… The magazine has a fantastic color cover by Maxon Crumb (brother of famed artist Robert), with Maxon also contributing three other incredible illustrations to augment his own short story, as well as Vincenzo Napolis tale; a terrific all-color back cover by Jeff Carr, appropriately entitled Kitties from Hell; and neat, Jack Kirby-esque illustrations, which grace the Lloyd Mooney and M.A. Ratcliffe piecesby talented then-newcomer Jay Mazhar. Cover price $3.00.
