This item is not in stock at MyComicShop. If you use the "Add to want list" tab to add this issue to your want list, we will email you when it becomes available.

1st printing. Story and art by Joe Sacco. Prior to Safe Area Gorazde: The War In Eastern Bosnia 1992-1995 - Joe Sacco's breakthrough novel of graphic journalism - the acclaimed author was best known for Palestine, a two-volume graphic novel that won an American Book Award in 1996. Fantagraphics Books is pleased to present the first single-volume collection of this landmark of journalism and the art form of comics. Based on several months of research and an extended visit to the West Bank and Gaza Strip in the early 1990s (where he conducted over 100 interviews with Palestinians and Jews), Palestine was the first major comics work of political and historical nonfiction by Sacco, whose name has since become synonymous with this graphic form of New Journalism. Like Safe Area Gorazde, Palestine has been favorably compared to Art Spiegelman's Pulitzer Prize-winning Maus for its ability to brilliantly navigate such socially and politically sensitive subject matter within the confines of the comic book medium. Sacco has often been called the first comic book journalist, and he is certainly the best. This edition of Palestine also features an introduction from renowned author, critic, and historian Edward Said (Peace and Its Discontents and The Question of Palestine), one of the world's most respected authorities on the Middle Eastern conflict. Softcover, 7-in. x 10.5-in., 286 pages, B&W. Cover price $24.95.

THE STORY: Hot off of last year's smash-hit series, the one and only Punisher returns to blast the dirtbags and dealers off the mean streets of New York City! Look for old friends, strangely changed enemies and lots of trademark humor and ultraviolence! But with Castle's war reinvigorated, the hapless Detective Soap finds his loyalties torn ? and his manhood tested! Yes, it's more twisted laughs and gruesome mayhem, as only this creative team can deliver! THE CREATORS SPEAK: "It's a good, down to earth, straightforward, kill-as-many-people-as-possible-in-a-short-period-of-time sort of comic," Dillon said. "Which is sort of fun." "The first five-issue storyline is definitely the same kind of wild, over-the-top, crazy stuff that you've seen in the first series," Ennis added. "The difference is that it's more of a big, epic action-movie type of story, rather than a sort of low-key crime thriller like the 12-issue storyline was." ? THE BUZZ: "Ennis' dark wit and Dillon's no-nonsense visual style are a perfect match and make for a story that is pure blood, guts and mayhem, and, above all else, a damn fine read." -IGN THE FORMAT: The debut issue of this monthly series is 32 pages, with ads.
