Along the way they save Hubo, a little boy who had been kidnapped and left as a sacrifice to the the tree; He escaped and so was able to lead them directly to the tree; They manage to kill the guardian of the tree, but Mafuta dies in the battle; The priestesses hear the death cries of the guardian and catch up to everyone at the tree.
